The move-in inspection is an owner’s final opportunity to view their property before a new tenant leases the unit. It is easy to assume that the move-in inspection is identical to the move-out inspection; however, each inspection is important for different reasons.

The tenant disposition (or the final tenant statement) is the final accounting of a tenant’s charges, credits, and security deposit. Unfortunately, it is often overlooked by property owners.

When a tenant leaves a property, investors must ask an important question: “how long until another tenant can move in?” The move-out inspection helps determine the answer.
